At the Poland Spring Preservation Society, one can imagine taking care of over 100 year old buildings takes a lot of work - and its true! However, we also have some great employees and volunteers to help us along the way.
The Maine State Building and All Souls Chapel are open from Memorial Day to the weekend after Columbus Day, but many things need to be accomplished to make sure it looks the best it can for all the wonderful visitors that see us here.
We'd loved to thank the volunteers that help us here!
Many members of the Board of the Directors, which is all volunteer, have been a great help this year with giving tours and just helping where they can.
Our best additions have been Rob, Peter, and Diane.
Rob has been helping all over the place and helps everywhere. When we opened up this year it was chaos, Many displays were in disrepair and foam board had curled and some where just outdated. Rob stepped up to the plate and helped redo everything! He even helped start the long process of cataloging our collections. Rob comes in every morning with a smile and a laugh as he looks at everything that needs to be done, he certainly brightens our days here.
Peter is our great handiman! Married to Linda, who works here, but is retiring - congrats again!, Peter knows how important this building is to us. When he comes through that door on the Maine State Building, all of us know there will be some serious work done. He paints, he stains, he builds, he replaces, and he even puts up with us.
Last but certainly not least, Diane, who is our newest volunteer! She just moved here and is a retired librarian, but don't worry, you needn't be quiet when she's here! Diane comes in smiling ear to ear eager to help get things done. She'll take care of anything thrown at her! She's helping catalogue all the books and found some get treasures here in the library books we have here - since the Maine State Building used to be a library. She's been a wonderful addition and we're very excited she came here!
Again we would like to thank everyone who has helped us in the past and present! We greatly appreciate it and I, personally, wouldn't know what to do without you!
If anyone is interested in volunteering email us at email@example.com or just come on in! We can always use a helping hand!
